My cat is so cute! I can't say this enough. Although, he just bit me and got chewed up cat food on my sweatshirt sleeve. That's a little gross!
I have two more papers due til the end of this semster. I can't wait to be done with them, and to just be able to sit back and breathe. This semester has been a total whirlwind for me. I started out working full time and going to school full time, but I realized that I didn't have enough time to do readings and work on long term projects, like my papers. I opted to reduce my hours at work, which has been fantastic and awful at the same time. Fantastic because now I have an extra day to do school work, but awful because I'm still expected to do the same amount of work, except now I'm supposed to do it in 4 days instead of 5. Good deal for the company... I'm not so sure it's a good gig for me.
I've finished one of my papers. There were some things my professor didn't like, but I have until next Tuesday to edit it. I think I've already made all the changes I will make to it. I can't see myself spending anymore time on it. I have a 20 page paper due next Friday. So far I've got 6... and I'm counting the title page and the bibliography. It's on offensive realism and the US-Israel alliance. I feel like I've already said everything I want to say about it in 6 pages.
I know this sounds horrible, but I actually do my papers by constructing them around quotes. I just pull quotes, and then try to make them fit into the rest of my paper, and comment on them as needed. It's probably not the best approach, but it's what I'm doing now. I tried to write an outline but realized I didn't know what I was going to write about....
Kind of like the other paper I have due which is supposed to be on terrorism in Peru. Again, I'm not really sure where I'm going w/ my paper topic. I think I might end up looking at how "the war on terror" has effected Peru in terms of its own internal struggles w/ terrorism. That paper is due not next monday but the following monday.
My game plan is to finish this 20 page paper by the 18th, and then I have that whole weekend to do my paper on terroism and Peru. God help me! I hope this isn't too ambitious. At least I feel slightly relieved knowing I'm done with my paper on Iran's nuclear program.
Fuck man, all I really want to do is go see New Moon for the 3rd time! I want to do that this week so bad! I might just have to schedule some me time. I also need to find time to work out. Monday I ran during my lunch break and did 60 lunches and 30 pushups in between the run. My butt is still sore from the lunges. :D I'm actually impressed that I felt DOMS given that I only did strength training for 10 mins at most. And I wasn't even in a gym, in front of a mirror! A-mazing! It was really cold outside, and hard to run because of it.
Sometimes I get so neurotic about school I feel like I don't have time to go to the gym, but when I don't go to the gym I just end up surfing gossip sites or checking email obsessively anyway. I might as well go to the gym for all the good that does me! The gym just upgraded their equipment and they have really sweet new treadmills now. I need to get another heart rate monitor because I lost the chest strap to mine, and it was always putting out funny numbers, even after I got the battery replaced.
Oh, and to top it all off, it's xmas. Merry fucking xmas. I love the Louis quote from the family guy, where she is freaking out about xmas: You all think Christmas just happens. You think all this goodwill just falls from the freakin' sky, WELL IT DOESN'T! IT FALLS FROM MY HOLLY JOLLY BUTT! So you can cook your own damn turkey, wrap your own damn presents, and hey, while you're at it YOU CAN ALL RIDE A ONE HORSE OPEN SLEIGH TO HELL!
I hate xmas. Everyone wants a wishlist from me. Then I have to tell people what to get other people. I essentially do the shopping for everyone. You know what kind of holiday shopping I like? I like when someone doesn't tell you what they want and you just get them stuff anyway. The cousin-in-laws? The boy gets sports-related clothes, and the girl gets girlie stuff. This year it's a sephora perfume set... if you've been to a sephora in the last 6 months you know what I'm tallking about; some eyeshadows and lipglosses; and an SAT vocab flash card set. The boy is once again getting sports-related clothes and this time he's getting some books on magic tricks. You know why? Because he said he liked Chris Angel and magic tricks, and the fact that i'm getting him books on magic tricks shows that I listen and care. Ahem, that *we* listened and care. See? I'm shopping on his behalf, too!
What was your favorite class in high school? (And no, lunch doesn't count.)
Probably art then.
'Fess up: What do you do that's bad for the environment?
Sponsored by One Million Acts of Green brought to you by Cisco.Take a car when I could walk, use shampoos/soaps that aren't biodegradable (at least not that I know of), leave lights on when they could be turned off, eat lots of meat, print out tons of paper at work, and probably toss even more, and the thing I feel worst about is sometimes using paper cups at work instead of using my water bottle. I really feel bad about that! That's all I can think of right now, but I'm sure I'm guilty of more. I'm actually an electricity hog. I use more than electricity than 99% of people in my zip code according to the power company. :( Sorry, but we've got lots of computers and gadgets.
What is something you consider to be "overrated." (Ed. note: Bonus points if you show it to us!)
Submitted by Laurie.Twilight! The characters just stare at each other lustily for uncomfortably long periods of time. I'm embarassed for them!
What is your signature drink?
Gin and Tonic with lemon/cucumber depending on the brand of gin.
What do you miss most about the internet of ten years ago?
Less idiots online. Not that there weren't idiots, but there were less of them.
What is the birth order in your family? Do you think it has an affect on your personality?
Submitted by aynge.
I'm an only child, so yes, it has affected my personality: I don't relate to children; I often prefer to spend time alone; and I don't really compromise. I think I tend to get along better with other only children, or people who were raised like only children (eg people who have large age gaps between themselves and their siblings). I do think that siblings tend to affect people's personalities. You can kind of tell who has an older sister, who has a little brother, and etc.
If you could pick between the superpowers of flight or invisibility, which would you choose?
Submitted by aynge.
Invisibility, because sometimes you just need to be alone!
What food reminds you of your childhood?
Inca Kola, D'Onofrio ice cream, Trix cereal -- the old kind that was round, not the fruit shaped new kind, and BIG chocolate chip cookies from the Pie Plate.
What's your best tip or trick for keeping your closet organized?
My closet is a mess! I don't have any tips. I am constantly losing clothes only to find them 6 months later under my bed or something. Hanging in my closet, I have my dressier clothes. In my drawers I keep everything else. I'm a little anal about my sweaters. I have all the cardigans folded in one corner, but it helps that I have 4 cardigans that are all the same size and style, just in different colors.
